Martha Stewart Living American Made Feature

“For more than 20 years, Martha Stewart has celebrated this spirit of innovation in the pages of her magazines. Now, through American Made, Martha Stewart and the editors of Martha Stewart Living are spotlighting the next generation of great American makers.”

While we enjoy being perceived as among the “next” generation of great American makers, at 160 years old, we can't help but feel a little like the old man on the block. Despite our age, Martha Stewart Living is featuring us in the pages of their June issue and for that we are quite proud.

The American Made contest celebrates the creativity and craftsmanship of American artisans and we are glad we made the grade. The magazine article reads:

Why We Love It
There are no shortcuts at Peterboro [Basket Company]. Brass nails, hammered in by hand, are used because they don’t rust. Strips of wood are sent into a steam cooker to make them more pliable for weaving. Baskets are dipped-stained rather than sprayed. These extra mile efforts are more than worth it. The beautifully constructed products last a lifetime.”

Thank you. We could not have said it better ourselves.

The photo features our Peterboro Mail/Welcome Basket and our Peterboro Rectangle Laundry Basket, both stained in Cherry along with an historic round basket (not for sale). Very nice picks, but we wouldn’t expect anything less from Martha Stewart.
