Enjoy the long weekend

Ooh la la it's hot outside! We hit high 90's the last couple days here in NH. I love it, I have been complaining about being cold since October of last year and couldn't wait to be warm again. Things are heating up here in the factory too, we use steam to make the baskets, so it gets pretty warm inside here during the summer months. We are already serving Gatorade to our employee's and it's only the end of May.

If your planning a trip to our factory outlet store this weekend, we just filled it up to the gils with lots of baskets. We also got in some awesome denim tote bags with the old man of the mountain embossed into the fabric. These make great beach bags for the summer. We also got some new t-shirts with our logo embossed into the fabric. These make great gifts for the Peterboro enthusiasts. Keep in mind that we will be closed on Monday May 28th, 2007 to celebrate the holiday.

Remember all of our troops, past and present, over this long holiday weekend. God Bless America!

Thank You Everyone!

I would like to thank everyone who made it out to our Spring Tent Sale. Despite the rainy weather we still held the sale, we just moved it inside. We saw lots of familiar faces, and enjoyed catching up with everyone.

Mary, who runs out factory outlet store and I are always amazed at how far people travel to come to our sales. We had two ladies visiting us again that come to our sales every year. All this time I thought they must live in Massachusetts or some place like that. Come to find out, one lives in PA and the other in MD. They drive up for each sale, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring. These girls are crazy about baskets and they give them away as gifts too. I also met another couple that happened to be up in ME on business and drove here for the sale. They are also from PA, and stopped here on their way home. I enjoyed chatting with them about my trips to QVC.

I would like to thank my two friends who stopped by to bring me gifts. It was also great to see them, and of course loved, loved, loved the gifts. Thank you girls!

I am now ready for a couple days off after a long 7 day work week. Time to do some gardening and spend some time with my 3 four legged children.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

We have to think it's good luck or something like that. Every tent sale we plan lately ends up being very rainy, cold and damp outside. Well, it's a good time to shop! I myself will make any excuse to shop. I actually don't need an excuse really, I consider myself a professional shopper. I am very good at it and I save a ton of money when I shop. My husband loves that line "I saved us so much money".

The sale must go on and we are prepared to have the tent up no matter what. We may just keep the baskets inside if need be, but there will be lots and lots of baskets and accessories for everyone. As far as the weather goes, I look at it this way. If I am going to work on the weekend, I would rather it be raining.

I have considered myself very lucky to meet lots of nice people over the last 12 years here at the Peterboro Basket Company. I meet people in our Factory Outlet Store, over the phone, at off site sales, and when I am at QVC. People are always very excited to talk about their love of baskets and I love to hearing about what they use them for. I have to share this picture that was sent to me by a very nice woman that absolutely loves our baskets. Apparently, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, because her daughter has also taken to our baskets.

Annual Spring Tent Sale Announcement

It's finally here, our annual "Spring Tent Sale" is scheduled for:

May 18th, 19th & 20th.

Our inventory is plentiful and we have lots of baskets and accessories to offer this year, including wrought iron. If you have been wanting to started on your holiday shopping, this is the perfect time to stock up on Peterboro Baskets for your gift list. If you have never been to one of our sales, you won't regret making the trip. There are lots of bargains, we are generally trying to clean out to make room for new product.

I have been working at our tents sales since the first year I started here. I remember back when I pretty much worked under the tent alone. Today, it takes at least 3-4 people to keep it running smooth. It has grown tremendously, mostly by word of mouth. Some of our customers travel from as far as PA, OH, & NC. The sale runs Friday-Sunday, but the best variety is Friday and Saturday. Sunday is for the people who like to pick through the last of the inventory and see what kind of deals we are making. We always hate to have product leftover, so we usually make special deals on Sunday.

Hope to see all those familiar faces again this year!

Spring is finally here!

On Monday April 30th all of us here at the Peterboro Basket Company celebrated Walter Hood's 80th birthday, he turned 80 on Sunday April 29th. I personally sang him a solo of "Happy Birthday to you". I know he was probably thinking don't quit your day job, but he's too nice to say that to me. After all, he are I are travel buddies.

This week has been so beautiful outside with the Spring air, blue skies and crisp mornings. I cannot wait to get outside and do some digging in the dirt. My flower beds are so ready to be cleaned up, I need to pull out all my gardening supplies and get them ready for a big weekend of gardening. I have a nice variety of gardening tools and like to keep them in our Gardening Tote Basket. This is a great basket for the gardener, whether your a flower gardener or a vegetable gardener. The basket has a plastic protector that keeps it from getting wet or soiled. It's deep enough for harvesting fruits and vegetables as well as storing all of my gardening supplies. I have found that If I don't carry all of my tools to the garden with me, I will end up making six trips back and forth to the gardening shed. At the end of it, I wil have lost some tools by leaving out on the lawn. The key is always put things back where they belong.... now, If I could only get my husband to live by that rule.
